John Haley, know as "Jack" was born in Fitchburg, MA on July 16, 1944. His maternal grandfather owned a foundry in Gardner, MA and Mr. Haley's father worked in a foundry in Fitchburg. Early in Jack's career his interest and attention was focused on the woodworking industry. Jack's goal was to become a patternmaker in the foundry industry, but with his unique creative ability and understanding customer needs, Mr. Haley has well exceeded all expectations. Jack studied patternmaking at Worcester Industrial Technical Institute from 1962-1964. He served an apprenticeship at Norton Company Machine Tool Division Pattern Shop, and then went on to work at several foundries and pattern shops in the Worcester, MA area. In 1981, Jack created Apple Pattern Company, Inc. of Leominster, MA. In 1986, company growth forced relocation to Sterling, MA into a 1,700 sq. ft. building. Continued growth dictated a second move in 1999 to a 36,000 sq. ft. building in Gardner, MA. Mr. Haley then sold Apple Pattern Company in July 2000 to a large Vermont injection molding company. Jack is currently dedicated to the study, design and construction of Early American Furniture. His one-man shop is approximately 2,800 sq. ft. of space, which houses his favorite tools and equipment. The results are custom woodworking projects for the customer with an appreciation for fine craftsmanship and beautiful wood furniture. J. Haley Woodworker is currently located in 110 Worcester Rd., Sterling, MA |
